Digital Analytics

What is Web Analytics?

Web analytics is the collection, measurement, analysis, and reporting of web data to understand and optimize web usage. It includes website traffic analysis, user behavior tracking, and conversion rate optimization. By using web analytics, you can track the performance of your website and adjust it accordingly to improve its functionality and user experience.

Discovery

  • Define your business objectives and goals: Before we start tracking any data, it's important to determine what you want to achieve through your website. Your objectives might include increasing traffic, improving conversion rates, or boosting engagement. We should also identify specific goals that align with each objective.

  • Once you have your objectives and goals in place, you can start identifying the key performance indicators (KPIs) that will help you measure progress towards those goals. KPIs should be specific, measurable, and relevant to your objectives.

  • A gap analysis is a valuable process to ensure that your measurement plan is aligned with your business objectives and KPIs. The gap analysis involves comparing your current analytics setup to your ideal setup and identifying any gaps that need to be filled. This process typically involves reviewing your existing analytics data, analyzing your website's user journey, and assessing the effectiveness of your current tracking implementation. Once you've identified any gaps in your analytics setup, you can develop a plan for filling those gaps by implementing additional tracking, adjusting your measurement plan, or making changes to your website or marketing strategy. By conducting a gap analysis, you can ensure that you're collecting the right data and using it effectively to drive improvements to your website and business performance.

  • Once we have identified your KPIs, we can determine what data you need to track in order to measure them. This might include tracking website traffic, user behavior, conversion rates, and more. We'll also need to decide which web analytics tool we'll use to collect and analyze this data.

Strategy

  • As we implement web analytics tracking, it's important to establish data governance policies that ensure the accuracy, privacy, and security of your data. Your data governance policies should outline who has access to your data, how data is stored and managed, and how you'll ensure compliance with relevant regulations such as GDPR or CCPA.

  • To ensure that your web analytics implementation goes smoothly, we will create a custom project plan that outlines the specific tasks and timelines for each phase of the implementation.

  • Roadmap

Implementation

  • During the configuration phase, we'll configure the analytics tool with the necessary settings that align to the KPI’s and measure plan defined previously. This includes setting up custom dimensions and metrics, configuring goals, and enabling e-commerce tracking. You'll also ensure that cross-domain tracking and any other special tracking requirements are implemented correctly.

  • The QA phase involves testing the implementation to ensure that it's accurate and comprehensive. This includes verifying that data is being collected and reported correctly, testing different scenarios and use cases, and checking that all data is complete and of high quality. We'll also verify that customizations and integrations with other tools or systems are working as expected.

  • During the deployment phase, you'll release the tracking implementation to the live environment. This involves making sure that the implementation is ready for release, testing the implementation in the live environment, and ensuring that it's deployed without any errors or disruptions to the website. You'll also have a rollback plan in place in case any issues arise during the deployment process.
